  Hic et Nunc is one of the most acclaimed art events in North-East of Italy. Comprising parallel exhibitions in various public spaces. Olafur Thordarson was included in an architecture exhibition entitled "Blasted Landscapes", with several other architects from around the world.  catalogue
Curated by Elena Carlini and Pietro Valle, the exhibit included works of Alexander Britt, Jose Luis Fernandez, Rosario Forjaz, Michael Gruber, Ottomar Kiefer, Susan Narduli, Takahiro Onishi, Eric Parry, Plasimo Design, R.O.W. Architectuur, Megan Rule, Olafur Thordarson and Daisuke Tofuku.

Design Days, exhibition at the Chelsea Market, organized by The Municipal Arts Society of New York, with Paola Antonelli of MOMA and Jennifer Keller.  Included in the exhibit was the escargot clock by Olafur Thordarson. Other works by Karem Rashid, Vignelli, TOTEM, Boym studio and more.

Olafur Thordarson gave a Soapbox presentation at the Celebrate NY Design! event.  Part of a talk by 39 top New York designers, including Dakota Jackson, Harry Allen, Boym Studio, Michael McDonough, David Rockwell, Ali Tayar, Olive, Jeffrey Osborne, Stefan Sagmeister, Karem Rashid, Lella Vignelli,  and more.

Included in the talk was a portion of Joe Chow's film on Thordarson's work with Skuli Sverrisson.

Group exhibit May 7 - June 11,  clocks and lamps of  Olafur Thordarson displayed in a 4 designer exhibit at the Klisanin Ross gallery, 2nd Avenue, New York City. See various clocks in concrete and resin, along with lamps.   Reception/opening was on Sunday May 16th, between 6-9 p.m.
The other 3 designers were Michael Graves with the atomic table, Meliska Klisanin with resin rugs and Christopher Ross with chairsMusic for opening reception by DJ  AGI

INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE FAIR    ( I C F F )


May 15-18, 1999, Olafur Thordarson of dingaling studio presented various custom designed furniture at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The works displayed were samples of objects from his personal design stockpile

Delirium Tremens wine racks in resin, originally designed in 1990.   Wall and mantel clocks custom cast in solid concrete and painted. Dynamic sculptures at the dingaling booth. 2000 / Millennium wall clocks, originally designed in 1995. Special edition of the Tulip and Fungi lamps, originally designed in 1991, are cast in resin, concrete and metal. Also present:
>Worm-in-Wood Shelf<, designed and made in 1995  and  >Double Faced (red) Worm Shelf< designed in 1991. Also "Perch" stool, by Michael Graves of DIGS design.

"The Art Director's Club also commissioned Icelandic architect and designer Olafur Thordarson to design and produce a Hanukkah menorah which he sculpted of clay [and cast in concrete]. The first night of the menorah's lighting coincided with the Young Guns NYC II opening."   (GRAPHIS Magazine, p. 112. #320, 1999)
